Aubrianna Griego and Anthony Vigil, Scholar Athletes of 2019

Anthony X. Vigil



Anthony Vigil a Senior at Mesa Vista High School is the son of Anthony and Jessica Vigil, Anthony is the second of eight children. Anthony has attended the Mesa Vista Consolidated School all his academic career beginning in Pre-K. Anthony has been involved with his school community throughout his high school years. He has participated in sports and school organizations and has become a leader in both. Anthony is currently the President of the School’s Student Council the Schools FFA Chapter and Class of 2019.

Anthony is a five year letter winner in Cross-Country, Basketball and Track. In Cross-country was part of a Back to Back State Championship team in 2016 and 2017. In track Anthony was part of a district champion 4 X 400 meter relay team in 2016. As a Junior Anthony was part of the Trojans Basketball team that qualified for the State Tournament.

As a member of the school’s FFA Chapter, Anthony serves as President, this year as a senior he can add a 1st place finish in “Employability” and 3rd place in “Milk Quality” among numerous other accolades he’s received through his tenure at Mesa Vista High School. Anthony also participates, in MESA, Natural Helpers, National Honor Society, Student Council and is Class President.

Aubriana M. Griego



Aubriana Griego, a Senior at Mesa Vista High School is the daughter of Jeff and Cora Griego, Aubri is the youngest of 3 children. Aubri has attended the Mesa Vista Consolidated School all her academic career beginning in Pre-K. Aubri has been involved with her school community throughout her high school years. She has participated in sports and school organizations, while maintaining a 4.0 Grade Point Average and is this year’s class valedictorian.

Aubri is a five year, four sport letter winner in Volleyball, Cross-Country, Basketball and Track. Aubri is the defending Class 2A state track champion in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Aubri has also qualified for state in the 100 and 800 meter run an well as a number of relays. Aubri’s leadership skills have made team captain in all her sports for most of her career. In both Basketball and Volleyball Aubri was named to the District 5-2A All-District team. Aubri was also named this year’s Northern Rio Grande (NRG) Scholar Athlete.

Aubri is also a member of the school’s Student Council, Natural Helpers and National Honor Society. Aubri will be attending New Mexico Highlands University in the fall where she plans to run track for the cowboys.
