Calling all interested grandparents and other community members with time and interest to be greeters at our schools first thing in the morning and as the busses are leaving in the afternoons.
We are looking for people interested in welcoming every student in our schools in the mornings. We are looking for volunteers to check in in the afternoon with students to see how their day went, and to say “see you tomorrow”.
The idea is to let kids know they are an important part of the school; that someone cares that they are there; that they belong. The idea is to bolster the feeling of community in our schools.
Volunteers would agree to be at either El Rito Elementary, Ojo Elementary, Mesa Vista Middle and High Schools at least one morning or one afternoon a week to greet students as they arrive or depart from school. Volunteers would be another set of eyes on students; getting to know them, recognizing who might be in need of a little extra support that day.
Background checks are required to be volunteers at the school. Please consider volunteering. We need your help.
