Future Farmers of America

The National Future Farmers of America organization is dedicated to helping students develop leadership skills, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Involved students build character and prepare themselves for future responsibilities. Read about our latest involvements in forestry skills our National FFA celebration week. Please contact Ms. Galves if you are interested in participating with FFA or need to know more information about when and where the FFA meets.

The MESA Program

Mesa Vista encourages all students to seek more education after high school. A great organization in our community is here to help our high school students: the New Mexico Mathematics, Engineer, Science Achievement (NM MESA) organization. This non-profit organization gives middle and high school students with a 2.0 GPA the opportunity for exposure to professions in mathematics, engineering, and science before they graduate. We hope this introduction to these subjects through local schools and universities in the community will encourage our students to develop career aspirations and pursue their future interests. Please read more about the MESA program for additional student requirements and partnering schools.

Journalism

Journalism students in grades 9-12 learn the foundations of ethical journalism (law, interviewing, writing, photography, and design) to publish a quarterly school newspaper and the annual 7-12 grade yearbook. School publications are student-produced and operate as a public forum. Students not in the class may still contribute photos, signed letters to the editor, and freelance articles. Journalism students also participate in the State Journalism Competition (NMAA) each spring. They have brought home the runner-up trophy for three consecutive years (2010, 2011, 2012).
