MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

I hope this message finds you and your family well.

On the website are the academic plans for the second week of the school closure. If you have problems accessing content or questions about the assignments, please contact your student’s teacher. All the teacher email addresses are posted on the website. If your teachers are advising you to pick up a packet at school, hours for pick up are 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.

We are adjusting the delivery and pick up of meals this week. We will deliver on Monday and Wednesday. We will deliver enough food for two days. The reasons for the adjustment is to help keep those preparing and delivering food safe and to respect social distancing. Last week we distributed over 1,000 meals.

Lastly, we have a board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th. This will be a meeting that community members can attend by Zoom. The meeting will be closed at 6:00 p.m. and will open to the public at 6:30. We are limiting attendance to the actual meeting to ten individuals with board members, the superintendent and the board secretary which take up seven seats. We will have three seats available for the public. If you would like to participate in the meeting under Public Comments please submit an email to board secretary Jessica Manzanares prior to the meeting at jessica.manzanares@mesavista.org. Dear Students, Staff and Parents:

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation, and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribution that has been the legacy of Mesa Vista Consolidated School District. The contribution of our students to our school community that makes Mesa Vista an exceptional learning community. Full participation in academic and co-curricular programs and a willingness to act responsibly as an individual within our educational environment are the factors that enable all to have a successful and enjoyable year.

Below are our beliefs regarding teaching and learning that we developed as part of this process.

We believe that effective teachers:
• Create opportunities for intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, problem-solving, and application of classroom learning to real life situations;
• Implement strategies that promote ownership of learning to students;
• Design instruction to integrate a variety of innovative technological tools and resources to enhance learning;
• Demonstrate ongoing professionalism.
